Individual Therapy

What is Individual Therapy?

An investment in therapy is an investment in your future. You’ll meet one-on-one with a pre-licensed therapist to reflect on the challenges you’re facing and how you might hope to take them on.

Individual therapy is a time for contemplation — it’s a chance to get closer to what is most important to you.

Your therapist will stand by you as you develop a vision for your life on the basis of what you value most. Together you’ll take on any problems standing in your way. Over time, you should find that the life you are living is more in line with your beliefs.

Miracle Mile Community Practice therapists are available to meet with you virtually or in-person at our Los Angeles office.

We offer a sliding fee scale making individual therapy affordable.

What can individual therapy help with?

In the past you may have been diagnosed with one of the “disorders” listed below. Perhaps this is what’s prompting you to give therapy another try. At Miracle Mile we avoid diagnosing but we understand if one of these labels is concerning you:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Low self-esteem

  • Eating disorder

  • Addiction

  • Relational conflict

  • Grief and loss

  • Anger

  • Stress

  • Trauma

  • Issues around sex

  • Sexual identity

  • Gender identity

How is our approach different?

At Miracle Mile we will focus on your values from the outset. Before shining a light on the problem we want to know what you care most about.

Many conventional approaches to individual therapy locate problems “in” people. This leads to “expert” assessments like “You have a depressive disorder ” or “You are narcissistic ” making problems central to people’s identities. As a result we can come to think of ourselves in these ways:

  • I’m bi-polar

  • I’m an angry person

  • I have an anxiety disorder

  • I have have low self-esteem

  • I have an addictive personality

  • I have a personality disorder

It can leave us feeling demoralized and known according to the problem rather than according to our moral character. At Miracle Mile we begin by getting to know you apart from the problem.  With breathing room from the problem you can find your moral footing, reclaim the direction of your life, and take decisive action.
